The Dangers Of A High Fat Diet

Excess dietary fat, whether good or bad, is bad for your health and your fat loss efforts. As with many other things, everything excessive, fats included, has the potential to cause harm. Nature produces foods that are most often low or totally free of fat. That's because humans only need a little of it to thrive. A high fat diet is accountable for the 30 or so most common diseases ever known. There is no denying that fats taste good. Your hips would infinitely look better without the fat stubbornly clinging to it.

There are several reasons why fats are not good for health and fat loss. Fats have more calories per gram than any other source. It is on top of the list at nine calories per gram consumed. Proteins and carbohydrates each contains four calories per gram. It goes to show that fats have more than twice the calories that proteins and carbohydrates contain. In fats, the lowest thermic effect is present. This is one reason why fats can be easily stored. Compared to proteins, which makes you spend 30% of the calories it provide just by digesting and absorbing them, fats only spend 3% for its digestion and absorption. Bad forms of fat like saturated fats and trans-fatty acids are responsible for two thirds of premature deaths in highly industrialized countries.

High fat diets don't leave much room for other macronutrients in your meal plans. Other people favor a high fat diet because it is said to promote the release of anabolic hormones. It will benefit if you consume essential fatty acid in small amounts but if you increase fat intake your carbohydrate and protein portions suffer. A meal plan is unbalanced and your results will be compromised, and if leans toward the consumption of only one macronutrient.

Bad fats or saturated fats are low density lipoproteins. These fats reduce insulin sensitivity. When insulin sensitivity is compromised, glycogen is not properly stored and therefore, not utilized by the muscles. Because of this the body releases even more insulin to manage the sugar still present in the bloodstream. This may be also the start of a diabetic condition. Fat begets fat. There is truth in this statement because the process involved in the chemical conversion of dietary fat to body fat is pretty easy.

Eating the right kinds of fats in the right amounts improve health and can even jumpstart a fat loss plan. People generally have a choice in what and how much they eat. You are the one responsible for how you look and feel today. What you are now is the product of everything that you have experienced in your lifetime. You cannot do anything about the past but you can do everything that you can to ensure a healthy future. That future should start today.
