Burn Fat Efficiently

To prevent the onset of various diseases and maintain good health a body has to have the recommended ratio of fat to lean body mass. You can easily accumulate excess fat, though, if your body is not optimized for efficient fat burning and you are not vigilant. Making permanent life changes that will maximize your body's natural capacity to burn fat all day is your best plan of action, whether you just need to guard against the build up of excess fat or you already have excess fat to shed. Doing your cardio workout at the earliest time in the morning before breakfast, eating six small healthy meals a day and drinking lots of water are three of the most effective changes you can make.

When done after your full night's sleep as your body has been in the equivalent of an eight hour fast, your cardio workout is most effective. Any available glycogen is normally burned by the body first during a cardio workout before it starts to burn fat. Because any glycogen stored in your bloodstream has been used up by the body while asleep, your body has no choice but to burn fat immediately once your cardio workout puts you at your maximum heart rate. After your workout, your metabolic rate remains high for the rest of your waking hours. If you work out in the morning you continue to burn fat efficiently for longer waking hours.

Your metabolism will also be kept burning at high speed if you eat six light and healthy meals spaced evenly throughout your day, until three hours before bedtime. Your total allowed calories for the day should be divided equally among these six meals, with each meal containing a balance of lean complete proteins, high fiber complex carbohydrates and healthy fats. Do not skip any meal because this will result in a decrease in your metabolic rate and fat burning efficiency.

You should be drinking lots of water all throughout the day, never taking less than one half ounce per pound of your body weight. You should drink at least 65 ounces of water a day, for instance, but preferably more, if you weigh 130 pounds. Before each meal and in the intervals between meals drink a big glass of water. Water will keep you full, tamping down hunger pangs, appetite and cravings. It helps distribute nutrients throughout your body to build fat burning muscles. It also aids detoxification from metabolic wastes, eliminating bloating and post-workout muscle soreness.

By integrating these three changes permanently into your lifestyle you can program your body to naturally and automatically burn off any excess fat to keep you safely within your recommended range of body fat percentage to look good, feel good and stay healthy.
