How Exercise Can Relieve Arthritis

Arthritis is not a pleasant condition. A lot of the pain is focused on the joints and is very hard to ease. Because of too much aches and pains, it makes it hard for you to move so you would rather sit still. That would actually hurt more. Studies have shown that you can relieve joint pain caused by arthritis by having an exercise routine. Allowing your joints to move as much as possible will help relieve you from a lot of pain.

When you pick which exercise to do to free you from your pain, you must remember to choose an exercise that has a low impact. Avoid over doing anything since you just need to get your joints moving. You can choose from cardio exercises like swimming, walking or biking. Cardio exercises improve your blood circulation which helps relieve the pain you are feeling because it lubricates your joints. You can start of with walking but depending on how severe your arthritis is, you can always start with something else like swimming. The water will help soothe your joints and it has less impact than the ground. To ease some of the back pain that you may get, you can also do some cycling, whether on actual bike or a stationary one.

You can do cardio exercises that give you a range of movement as well. These can make your flexibility improve and that helps you maintain the movement of your joints and relieve any stiffness caused by arthritis. Pilates, yoga and tai chi are some exercises that allow you to do a range of movement without putting too much pressure on your joints. Strengthening exercises like mild weight training can also help. This helps the muscles around your joints to grow in order to help your joints. This prevents your joints from getting a lot of pressure. Exercise also helps you lose extra weight which also puts pressure on your joints.

Before you do any exercise, you need to get your doctor's advise on what exercise to do. It is also advisable to train with a physical therapist, a trainer or just have someone when you workout to ensure your safety. You can also join classes for arthritics so that the exercises would be tailor fit for your condition.

Having arthritis is a real reason not to exercise but it is also a reason why you should. Even if you think that exercise can hurt you, it can actually help you a lot.
