How Exercise Can Boost Self Esteem

How we project ourselves is how the world sees us. You can do almost anything you aim for and have a positive effect on other people when you are confident in yourself. However, self confidence is not always an innate part of us. It is sometimes developed. And exercise is one of the ways to do it.

One way to boost your self esteem with working out is chemical. Working out makes our body release hormones that have a positive effect in our body including our mood. The hormone responsible for that is endorphin. Endorphin simply helps you with feeling better and giving you a great mood. You stay positive about almost anything, including yourself, when you are in a good mood. Endorphins act as painkiller and help promote better sleep as well. Exercise also helps fight stress. You feel better when you are able to handle stress because you feel that you are in control of your life and not the other way around.

You also get a boost of self esteem through working out when you see the results. Getting fit and losing unwanted pounds are more than enough of a reason to feel more confident. Remember that scene in Spiderman when he took off his shirt in front of the mirror and he noticed how buff he was? Yes, that was one quick jolt of self confidence. Exercise promotes good circulation which helps improve your complexion. You get a rosy complexion when you have a better circulation. With these 2 things together, you will look better and when you look good, you also feel good.

You have to take note though that even with exercise, there will be other things in your life that can hinder a confidence boost and it is up to you to find that positivity to break through it. You can use exercise to release your frustration like what some people do. Aerobics and running are some exercises that may appeal to that. Exercise teaches discipline that can infect other aspects of your life as well. Discipline gives you more control over your life and that gives you a boost on your self esteem. Make sure that you keep a regular exercise schedule and work on it gradually. Don't set a goal that may be too hard for you to attain. Select a workout that you can easily incorporate in your schedule and something that you can do like running and weightlifting 3 to 4 times a week. Setting the bar too high for yourself can lead to disappointment if you don't reach that goal and that can damage your self esteem. If you're aiming to get a boost of self esteem, why not join classes or have friends join you when working out.

Boosting yourself esteem starts from yourself. Others may influence the way you feel about yourself but nothing will work if you don't feel the same way. So get up, get a good workout and get your self esteem.
